I've had good luck with BofA for many years. I recently overdrafted my account by accident, and I had some fees hit my account. I am going to talk to them about it tomorrow. While the overdraft was my fault, I expect to get a refund of some kind because I did not ever voluntarily "opt-in" to the overdraft protection that causes the problem. As a matter of fact, Congress is working to make many of the overdraft fees that banks charge illegal because of so many complaints. I use BofA because the ATMs are everywhere and the web site works good. If they don't treat me good this time, I'll start shopping banks. Also, I never trust the ATMs for deposits, always use a teller.

I'm sorry for your situation... makes me want to think twice before using those new ATM machines again. Bank Of America's customer service has recently took a dive for the worst recently. One, they've changed their policy of overdraft, so the transaction goes through immediately, which causes overdraft for many folks who live paycheck to paycheck. Two, their customer service used to be great. Now, it seems when I call its a 50/50 change I will get the same answers as the previous agent. I've opened a credit union account, for the last 4 months Ive had to complaints. Looks like its time to just close my BofA account.

I myself has had several bad experiences with Bank Of America; 2 weeks ago I deposited a check I received from my 401k account and Bank Of America still have not made my funds available. The check was deposited August 28 and it is now September the 12, my account id severally overdrawn due to items that have came in during this time period. I know bank of America is going to happily deduct the negative balance from my nearly 3 week ago deposit. I have called the 1800 number several times and nothing has been done about the situation. I have checked with the 401k finance center and they assured me that the check was cleared and cashed before September 5. My question is, why have Bank of America did this and how many more people will suffer from such behavior.

People either have great experience with BofA or horrible ones, which is unsettling considering it's a bank.

Though it would not have resolved your issues
